People are buying cheap beauty knockoffs on popular online marketplace sites like Amazon, and on the street in major cities. Brands like Kylie Cosmetics, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and MAC are all prime targets for counterfeiting. The same street corners that used to sell fake Michael Kors bags are now slinging counterfeit Kylie Lip Kits. Not only are these fake cosmetics cutting into company profits, but they are harmful to consumers.


Fake beauty products are largely created in bacteria-ridden counterfeit factories in China. People buy them in bulk from Chinese websites and resell them. The people that sell them rarely get raided, and products are rarely seized. Some consumers are aware that they are buying fakes and simply don’t care, but others just don’t question it because of the amazing price point. Many consumers are alarmingly showing they care about the label more than the quality and safety of the product.
